WEB GRAPHIC DESIGN AND ILLUSTRATIONS
Goodbye Internet Explorer 6
Internet Explorer 6 is an 8 year old browser after its introduction in 2001 and it's time for us to upgrade to better browsers. Web developers, programmers and web designers regard this as the "Developer's Nightmare". It's not web standard compliant with loose securities. There has been some fixes and hacks on IE6 but I think we should all be moving forward and concentrate on more important issues rather than fixing a very old problematic browser. IE6 does not support most of CSS (cascading style sheets) specially with tableless layouts. Certain Javascripts also do not work well with IE6. It doubles up margin values in CSS creating layout misalignments. I would recommend you download a better, safer browser like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari. Please click on the downlaod links to Firefox and Google Chrome on the right side of this pageI know that some people are not aware of the IE6 problem and it's time we take a proactive role and keep the people well informed. It's long overdue and about time to move on with a better browser. I found this chart from w3schools.com’s Browser Statistics about the percentage of browser users. Less people are using IE and switching to Firefox. Goodbye IE6.
For the latest news, the Atens Group, a creative design agency in Denver, Colorado put up a website about the official funeral of IE6 as of March 01 2010. You may visit the site HERE. For another related info, check out the Google blog. This blog discusses about using modern browsers.
